In Porto Seguro, visit Cidade Alta, the oldest village in Brazil. And stay tuned to the evening calendar: during the week, the megatents operate in rotation. The most charming evening can be found on the other side of the Buranhém river, at Arraial d’Ajuda.
The best time to visit the Quadrado (Square), in Trancoso, is in the late afternoon, when the shops start opening. In Caraíva, forró plays on into the night throughout the summer and in July; off-season, the dance parties happen on Fridays and Saturdays.
