Minors under 16 years of age cannot travel unaccompanied.
Infants
Infants up to 1 year and 11 months old pay 10% of the adult fare, but must travel on the lap of a responsible adult over 18 years of age. Only one lap infant is allowed per customer.
Pregnant Women
See below for guidelines for pregnant women traveling with South African Airways:
- Less than 30 weeks pregnant: visit your doctor and confirm that air travel is the appropriate option for your overall health.
- More than 30 weeks pregnant or high-risk (at any time): it is mandatory to obtain written authorization from your doctor. Present the certificate during check-in.
In the medical certificate, the doctor must authorize your trip in writing, taking into account the flight destination and the duration of your trip. During check-in, you will need to fill out a South African Airways form.
