General Rules

  • Babies up to 2 years old (not yet 2) can travel on domestic flights without paying for the airfare. On international flights, they pay 10% of the adult fare. On both domestic and international flights, the baby must travel on the lap of a responsible adult over 18 years of age.
     
  • Only one infant per passenger is allowed. In the case of twins, two paying adults are required. For more information, visit the website of the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).
  • GOL does not transport children aged 0 to 8 years old (not yet 8) unaccompanied by a responsible adult over 18 years of age.

How to include infants in your reservation

  • If you are traveling with an infant under 2 years old, you must include their name when purchasing the ticket (see the image below for where to include the infant):
  • If you have already made the purchase without including the baby's name, you can request this through our customer service center. Contact us by phone (0300 115 2121) or type "talk to an agent" in the chat with GAL. Remember: only one infant per customer is allowed. In the case of twins, two paying adults are required.

How to include infants in your reservation

  • ​​​​​​In the purchase confirmation sent by email, only the names of the passengers occupying seats on the plane appear. Therefore, you will not see the name of the child under two years old, as they travel on the lap of adults.
  • You can view this information by accessing the My Bookings/Find Trip section on our website. The name of the child on the lap will appear below the name of the passenger responsible for them.

Baggage for infants

Domestic flights:
If you are traveling with an infant on domestic flights, you may bring:

  • 01 stroller (which may consist of multiple parts, provided they form a single unit) OR 01 infant car seat.

You may choose to take the stroller to the aircraft door. There, you must check the item in.

If you need to bring other items, they will be deducted from the parents' or guardians' baggage allowance.

International flights:
If you are traveling with an infant on international flights, you may bring:

  • 01 bag or backpack weighing up to 10 kg
  • 01 stroller (which may consist of multiple parts, provided they form a single unit) OR 01 infant car seat.

You may choose to take the stroller to the aircraft door. There, you must check the item in.

If you need to bring other items, they will be deducted from the parents' or guardians' baggage allowance.

Important:
Only fully collapsible strollers ("umbrella" style) will be permitted as carry-on baggage, subject to available space on board.

Documents needed to travel with infants

  • You must present a valid document proving the family relationship, such as:
    • Birth certificate (original, certified copy, or digital format); or
    • National ID card (RG) (original or certified copy); or
    • Valid passport.
       
  • If the document presented does not prove the family relationship between the accompanying adult and the infant, an authorization must be provided. This must be in the form of a public deed or a private document with a notarized signature (verified by signature comparison or authenticity) expressly authorized by the mother, father, or legal guardian.

    Please note: The Statute of the Child and Adolescent and the National Council of Justice do not permit authorizations signed via digital signature platforms such as GOV.BR, DocuSign, ClickSign, D4Sign, TOTVS, and others. Only documents bearing a notarized signature or judicial authorizations are accepted.
     
  • If the authorization does not specify an expiration date, it is considered valid for two years from the date of issuance.

A police report (*Boletim de Ocorrência* or B.O.) is not a valid document for boarding children aged 0 to under 13. Acceptance of a police report for children (aged 0 to under 13) is subject to consultation with the local Children and Youth Court.

Child safety seat

GOL allows infants and children weighing up to 25 kg to travel in child restraint seats attached to the aircraft seat on domestic and international flights operated by GOL. You may choose to use your own child seat or request one provided by GOL.

Using your own child seat (CRD)
 

Send your booking details and child seat information—brand, model, and a PDF file containing the equipment manual—to medif@voegol.com.br at least 7 days before your trip. Based on the seat information, an assessment is conducted to verify if the equipment can be safely installed on the aircraft seat. If the child seat is to be used by an infant (lap child), a ticket must be purchased for the infant.

GOL Child Restraint Device (CRD)
 

GOL provides child restraint devices for use during the flight. Please contact GOL via phone customer service up to 7 (seven) days prior to the trip to request the service. If the device will be used by an infant (lap baby), a ticket must be purchased for the infant.

Important: Service not available on routes with origin and/or destination JFK (New York) and LIS (Lisbon).

Flights with Partner Airlines
 

For bookings involving partner airlines, GOL can handle the reservation for flight segments operated by GOL. To purchase this service for segments operated by other airlines, you must contact them directly to check if it can be added.

GOL+ Conforto and Premium Fare Restrictions
 

Child restraint equipment cannot be installed in the Premium fare class or in GOL+ Conforto seats.

Bassinet

GOL provides a baby bassinet service for use during flights on twin-aisle (wide-body) aircraft, exclusively in Economy seats. This service cannot be used in Business class.

Important: this aircraft configuration is available on routes between GIG (Rio de Janeiro) / JFK (New York) and GIG (Rio de Janeiro) / LIS (Lisbon).

The service is complimentary and subject to availability and the purchase of specific seats that allow bassinet installation. No seat fees will apply if the customer is eligible for complimentary seat selection via Smiles tier status or fare type purchased.

Seat purchase does not automatically guarantee service availability; therefore, please request it in advance through the available channels: Customer Service Center, up to 72 hours before the flight; Airport, up to 1 hour before the flight.

To use the bassinet, the baby must:

  • Be up to 1 year old

  • Weigh up to 10kg

  • Measure less than 70cm

For safety reasons, the bassinet will be installed after takeoff and stowed prior to landing.

Feeding infants and children up to 2 years of age

GOL does not provide food service for babies and children under 2 years of age on its flights.
