Packing your bags
Round-trip tickets originating in South America allow Business class passengers to check 2 bags weighing up to 32 kg (71 lbs) each and Economy class passengers to check 2 bags weighing up to 23 kg (51 lbs) each for free.
The international baggage policy is observed by GOL only on flights issued with the same locator/reservation code (e-ticket) as the international flight. The international baggage allowance will not be honored for tickets purchased separately, even if they are issued by a partner airline. In such cases, the baggage rules for the segment purchased apply.
Excess Baggage Payment
Passengers who have excess baggage may pay the excess baggage fees when checking their baggage at a counter.
Fragile items will be accepted, provided they are packaged properly. However, should the item be damaged for any reason during transport, the airline will not be liable for any compensation. Please check the air transportation contract for more information.
No type of perishable food is accepted. For more information, please contact the consulates or customs offices of your countries of destination or transit.
Transporting items for infants (children up to 2 years of age)
If the infant is traveling in a separate (reserved) seat, the infant is entitled to the same amount of baggage as an adult. If the infant is traveling on an adult’s lap, the infant is entitled to the following:
- One checked bag weighing up to 10 kg (22 lbs).
Passengers are allowed to check 1 baby stroller (for personal use) and/or 1 child seat free of charge.
Checked baggage on codeshare flights must be claimed at the final destination.
When a passenger traveling to Brazil from North America is making a connection, the checked baggage must be claimed at the first Brazilian destination. After going through the mandatory customs procedures, the passenger must go to a GOL counter to check their baggage again.
Lost baggage service
In the event of lost baggage, the company responsible for registering the incident and following up on the status of the baggage is the last airline to have transported the passenger. If it is determined that the baggage was lost during a connection between an international flight and a domestic GOL flight, the passenger must file a lost baggage claim with the company that transported the baggage during the previous segment.
In the event baggage is damaged, the passenger must file a complaint with the last airline to transport the baggage. If it is determined that the baggage was damaged during a connection between an international flight and a domestic GOL flight, the passenger must file a complaint with the airline that transported the baggage in the first segment.
Passengers are entitled to one carry-on bag whose dimensions may not exceed 55 cm (22 in) in height, 40 cm (16 in) in width and 25 cm (10 in) in length, including pockets, wheels and handles, and whose weight does not exceed 10 kg (22 lbs).
All electronics must be transported as carry-on baggage. Laptops, cameras, cell phones, camcorders and tablets must go through the x-ray machine at the security checkpoint at the boarding area.
Valuable objects like jewelry and cash must also be transported in carry-on baggage.
Bladed or blunt weapons, firearms, firearm cartridges and ammunition, printer cartridges, liquids in bottles over 100 ml, combustible materials, batteries with electrolytes, lithium batteries with output greater than 160 Wh, fireworks, explosives, paint, chemical products and mercury thermometers are prohibited in carry-on baggage.
