What is FREMEC?

FREMEC (Frequent Traveller Medical Card) is a document to make life easier for passengers who need special assistance. With it, it is no longer necessary to present a medical certificate on every trip, it is enough to use a personal document upon boarding. Passengers whose medical condition is permanent and stable may be eligible to register with FREMEC.

Attention: Registration is allowed only for people with chronic and stable conditions. We also emphasize that FREMEC is not issued to children under 2 (two) years of age.

Please note: the old version of the FREMEC form (5-page version) will be accepted until August 10, 2026.

Completing and submitting the FREMEC

In order for the GOL medical team to review all the information and guarantee the passenger's safety, it is essential to submit the FREMEC form duly completed by the attending physician.

The following are specific guidelines for each condition:

Person with visual, intellectual, mental and/or psychosocial disabilities: when the FREMEC form is completed by a non-specialized doctor, an additional report, statement, certificate or medical report prepared by a medical specialist in the respective area (doctor with RQE registered with the local CRM) must be submitted. The medical specialties admitted are

:

Visual impairment: Ophthalmologist with RQE.

Intellectual, mental, and/or psychosocial disability: Psychiatrist with RQE or neurologist with RQE. When the case involves children and adolescents, pediatricians with RQE or neuropediatricians with RQE are also accepted. The document should address the definitive diagnosis and changes in existing adaptive abilities (assessment of daily living skills, such as self-care, social skills, and functioning at home and in the

community).

When the FREMEC form is completed by a specialist doctor (doctor with RQE in the respective area), the submission of an additional report is not required. GOL reserves the right to request additional specialized documentation if the FREMEC completed by a specialist doctor requires additional information (for example, not informing the visual acuity of a

visually impaired person).

The RQE (Specialty Qualification Record) is a number assigned to doctors who have a medical specialty recognized in Brazil. This registration is granted by the Regional Council of Medicine (CRM) of the State where the doctor works, after proof of training in a specific medical specialty. Having an RQE is a way of assuring the public that the doctor is truly an expert in the area they advertise

How to consult a doctor's RQE? Access the website of the CFM (Federal Council of Medicine) or the CRM website where the doctor works (it is possible to consult registered doctors, including the RQE

).

Hearing impaired person: the presentation of the FREMEC form is mandatory (by a specialized doctor or not), together with tonal audiometry (fundamental and mandatory examination to determine the existence of hearing impairment).

Physically disabled person: the FREMEC form must be completed by a physician familiar with the pathology described in the document. An additional report is not mandatory, as long as the FREMEC form leaves no doubts and is clear and complete. However, GOL reserves the right to request additional specialized documentation if additional information

is required.

Old forms will be accepted by 29/02/2024. As of 01/03/2024, only the new MEDIF/FREMEC forms will be accepted.

Feedback on the request

  • Within 48 hours your request will be reviewed by the GOL medical team and you will receive a response.
  • If approved, you will receive a document with your FREMEC number by e-mail and you can use it to book your ticket.
  • Buy your ticket through our service channels and check below for instructions for purchasing your companion's reservation.
  • At the time of boarding, simply present your photo ID. It is not necessary to present a medical certificate or authorization

  • It is worth remembering that passengers who are not eligible for FREMEC are not denied boarding, so they must send a MEDIF form (following the deadline for review after a new submission).

FREMEC from other airlines

When the passenger already has a FREMEC registration with another airline, it is not necessary for them to make a new request. However, it is necessary to submit a document proving the issuance or approval of registration, which will be reviewed by the medical department. In addition to the travel request form, at least 72 hours in advance.
