Customers who purchase tickets from January 23, 2025 onwards will be subject to the new rules for changes/cancellations and no-shows for flights to and from SJO and AUA.
When you cancel or change a flight, you may receive a credit, meaning an open balance with GOL. By choosing this option, you can use this balance for new ticket purchases, including promotional fares; to cover fare differences; or to pay any airport fees.
Once the credit is confirmed, you will have 365 consecutive days from the date the credit is generated to use this amount.
If you did not use your card and wish to request the credits, click here to learn how. Remember that purchasing tickets with third-party cards is permitted, but transferring credits between GOL accounts is not authorized; however, you can use this credit to purchase on behalf of third parties.
Please note! If you are not registered on the website, you will not be able to retain credit with GOL. In this case, you can only receive the amount you are entitled to as a refund. For more information, please contact our Online Customer Service.
When you change and have a residual value to receive or cancel a flight, you also have the option to request a refund of these amounts. By making this choice, you will receive back part of the amount paid to the same payment method. From this amount, some fees may be deducted, such as: cancellation, no-show and refund penalty, according to the fare rules contracted at the time of purchase. If the requested refund is for an amount linked to a credit, the corresponding fees will be applied.
Please note: some fares have mandatory round-trip conditions, therefore they do not allow refunds after the first flight has been used.
You will have up to 365 calendar days from the date of purchase of the ticket to request a refund. For more information on the refund period for flights between March 19, 2020 and October 31, 2021, learn more.

Attention: If you used a debit card or cash to purchase your ticket, please contact us at 0800 704 0465 and provide your bank details to receive the refundable amount.
If you issued your ticket using Smiles miles to fly with GOL, be aware that you may miss your flight and lose your miles. Since May 2012, in cases of no-show (failure to board), miles are no longer refundable. Contact Smiles to verify the details of this rule.
Failure to check in on time¹ or to arrive at the boarding gate² is considered a no-show. When this happens, the passenger will have to pay a fee according to the specific fare rules.
When purchasing round-trip flights, if the outbound leg is not used, your return ticket will be guaranteed, provided you contact us before the departure time of the first flight.
To avoid inconvenience, always try to cancel reservations you will not be using in advance.
In case of rescheduling to a new flight, the passenger will have to pay any fare differences, if any, due to price increases or unavailability of the same fare class for the new desired flight.
Airport Fees:
Airport fees are refundable and are not included in the calculation of fines or penalties.
Cancellation:
For purchases made 7 days or more in advance of the departure date, the passenger may cancel the purchased air ticket without any charge, provided they do so within 24 hours of receiving their confirmation. In other cases, the passenger may request cancellation, credit, or refund, and penalties may apply according to fare rules.
