Here is some information to make your trip safer and more comfortable.

Allergies

If you suffer from any allergies or food intolerance, please pack the necessary medication in your carry-on baggage. It is important to note that our crew members are not authorized to administer any kind of injectable medication even in an emergency.

We cannot guarantee that the food served on the aircraft is completely free of peanuts or other ingredients that cause allergic reactions. We also cannot guarantee that other passengers won’t bring these foods onboard the aircraft.

In order to minimize these symptoms, we recommend that you stay awake and keep children awake during takeoffs and landings so that you do some ear decompression exercises like swallowing or yawning and encourage children to suck on a pacifier or bottle.

Scuba diving

The aircraft’s cabin pressure is equivalent to the air pressure at 2,400 m (7874 ft) above sea level. If you went scuba diving 24 hours before the flight, there is a risk that you may suffer an air embolism. Therefore, we advise you not to travel within 24 hours after scuba diving.

Jet lag

Traveling to different time zones can affect your body's natural rhythms. You might experience symptoms like fatigue, headaches and difficulty concentrating. To help mitigate some of those symptoms, before your trip, set your watch to the time at the destination. Drink plenty of water during the flight. Once at your destination, try getting enough sleep on the first night, without resorting to sleeping pills and other sleep aids. Also try to get into the new time schedule by eating meals on the local time.

Airsickness

Some people become airsick after takeoff. To minimize this type of discomfort, eat light foods before the flight, such as fruits, salads and granola bars. Avoid eating fatty dishes, smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages, black tea, mate tea or coffee. Consult your physician before traveling, should you need any specific medication.

Thrombosis

Spending a long time sitting increases the risk of thrombosis, as do some risk factors such as being over 60, pregnant, obese, using contraceptives and having undergone recent surgeries, to name a few. Therefore, it’s important to move your legs and arms during long flights. Also use elastic or compression socks and drink plenty of water.
If you suffer from one of the risk factors, please consult your physician before traveling.

Diarrhea

Diarrhea is generally caused by food contamination. It can occur in any country in the world and is more common during the summer. Therefore you should always have meals at establishments with proper hygiene and drink treated or mineral water. Opt for cooked foods, avoid food that is exposed, such as food served at buffets, and food sold at street stands.

Temperature changes

It may be uncomfortable and difficult to adapt to destinations where the climate is significantly different. Therefore, pack clothing that is appropriate to the climate at your destination.

Sun care

Hot places with plenty of sunshine require that you take some precautions. Always wear a high-SPF sunscreen and wear light clothing, long-sleeved shirts, hats and sunglasses. Avoid dehydration by drinking plenty of water and avoid being in the sun during the hottest part of the day.

Health insurance

If you have health insurance, check with your provider to see if you are covered while traveling, especially abroad. Health care can be expensive in some countries. 

Onboard precautions

Always wear comfortable clothes, footwear and, if possible, compression socks. On long trips, walk up and down the aircraft's aisles every two hours and try not to remain seated for long periods of time. Drink water to remain hydrated. Apply moisturizing cream and lip balm occasionally. If possible, wear glasses instead of contact lenses.
